seen by the groom in her wedding dress before
the ceremony takes place.
According to a popular Victorian rhyme,
it is considered good luck for the bride
to wear "something old, something new, something
borrowed" and "something blue" on her big day.
Many brides marry in white, which was traditionally a symbol of maidenhood. Cutting the wedding cake is an important part of the ritual celebrations after the wedding has taken place.
It is customary for the groom to carry his
bride over the threshold when they enter
their home as a married couple for the first
